Brampton is a municipality in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario, Canada and the seat of Peel Region. In 2001, the population of the city was 424,000. Brampton was once known as The Flowertown of Canada, a title it earned due to the city's big greenhouse industry. There are several cultural entities in the city under the umbrella of the Brampton Arts Council. Brampton has a total land area of 265 square kilometres. Brampton city has long been considered one of Canada's fastest growing communities. Brampton's recent exponential growth in population is due primarily to immigration.  
 
Ontario is the most crowded of Canada's ten provinces and second only to Quebec in area. It is located in east-central Canada and is considered one of the provinces of Central Canada. Its capital is Toronto, which is also the largest city in Canada.
