Luke Parkin Releases the Winter Journal Album On Pacific Music


Young recording artist and composer issues first seasonal record.

(PRWEB) December 22, 2005 -- Winter Journal, released on the Pacific Music Record Label, is the 68th opus number in the pianist's large recording catalog.

The album's 14 tracks uses references to Gregorian Chant and church modes as well as winter vistas and programs as inspiration. Comprised of 14 tracks and an hour of music, this latest addition is a distinctly different offering from the composer's previous works which highlight, Contemporary Classical and electronic music.

Luke Parkin is a prolific composer and recording artist who is based in Victoria, British Columbia Canada. He studied classical music from childhood where he excelled in keyboard music of the piano and also the organ. His tremendous aptitude for improvisation of classical forms and composition later manifested itself in electronic and production music for television and film. His collection of albums includes some 68 opus numbers that are inclusive of genres ranging from electronica to contemporary classical music. Luke lives a musical double life. His professional activities are divided between classical, contemporary, church and the commercial worlds of music. He is also the Senior Organ Scholar at Christ Church Cathedral, Anglican, Victoria, B.C., under Director of Music Michael Gormley, formerly a conductor of the Vienna Choir Boys.

Luke Parkin's catalog contains some 18 hours of audio that can be previewed in streaming formats on his URL. Domestic and International licensing deals are currently underway with licensing agents in Canada and the U.S. Parkin hopes to launch a tour to support the Winter Journal and other albums in late 2006. The artist and his manager Christopher Armstrong, of Vancouver recently teamed up with Pacific Music with the intention of issuing parts of the recording catalog separately on CD.
